Taylor Swift debuted a teaser on Instagram for the music video of her song “Fortnight” from her new album “The Tortured Poets Department” on Thursday, officially ushering in her new era. The clip features a splicing of footage from the black-and-white video, featuring Post Malone.
In the video, Swift wears a dress by Australian designer Toni Matičevski. The dress is seen briefly when Swift throws an object at a glass pane. The Matičevski Candescence gown features a romantic design, appropriate for Swift’s general approach to style and proclivity for romance-inspired pieces.

The strapless dress features a sculptural silhouette and construction with an angular, rounded neckline that skims across the collar to accentuate the décolletage. The crisp pearl white cotton fabric gathers at the hip, framing the leg, and showcasing a high-low silhouette. The dress also features internal boning for a corset-like appearance.

Swift also wears a new style of makeup in the video. Opting toward more dramatic palettes, the singer wears heavy, dark eye shadow and a matching dark lip — a departure from her classic red lip she’s made a staple of her makeup regimen. The singer’s curly locks also make a return for this video, with Swift showcasing her natural curls.

Swift has fashioned similar looks in the recent past. While attending the 2024 Grammy Awards in February, the singer fashioned a gown by Schiaparelli. The gown featured delicate draping and a dramatic thigh-high slit. The “Cruel Summer” singer accessorized with black opera gloves and peep-toe heels, as well as a suite of diamond jewelry from Lorraine Schwartz.

The 2024 Grammys was the site at which Swift announced her new album, which debuted on Friday. The sartorial messaging of Swift’s Grammy’s gown, featuring black-and-white color blocking, is not dissimilar from the aesthetic of her next album era.
