Jennifer Garner is mourning the loss of her father, who passed away over the Easter holiday weekend.
The 13 Going on 30 actress shared the sad news with her followers on Instagram.
She posted a series of photos showing herself and her dad throughout her life, as well as pictures with her mum, Patricia, and sisters, Susannah and Melissa.
Jennifer revealed that her dad died peacefully on Saturday afternoon.
“My dad passed peacefully Saturday afternoon. We were with him, singing Amazing Grace as he left us (did we carry him across or scare him away, valid question),” she wrote.
Despite acknowledging that there’s no tragedy in the death of an 85-year-old man who lived a healthy, wonderful life, Jennifer admitted that grief is unavoidable.
She expressed gratitude for her father’s influence on her life and thanked the medical team who cared for him. She also shared her love for her dad.
“There is so much to say about my dad. My sisters and I will never be done talking about how wonderful he was, so bear with us, but for today I share these memories with my appreciation for the kind and brilliant man, father, and grandfather he was, as well as the loving legacy he left behind,” she concluded.
Jennifer had many celebrities and ex-co-stars sharing their condolences.
“My sweet friend… sending you all my angels to help carry him home,” penned fellow Hollywood actress Reese Witherspoon.
“I’m so sorry for your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time,” Lori Grenier replied.
“Sending you lots of love. He sounds absolutely wonderful,” Kaitlyn Dever said.
Not just Jennifer, but her siblings, mum, and three kids she shares with Ben Affleck, Violet, Seraphina, and Samuel are also mourning.
Jennifer last appeared in the 2023 Netflix comedy Family Switch and is slated to reprise her role as Marvel superhero Elektra in Deadpool & Wolverine.
