When Ariana Grande was announced as a new judge on The Voice back in March, we predicted that the superstar would be delivering some epic fashion moments on the show—and she certainly hasn’t been disappointing. Since season 21 premiered in late September, the singer has been using the main stage as her runway, wearing both archival and fresh-off-the-runway pieces in stellar looks styled by Mimi Cuttrell.
Grande’s fashion mood for The Voice so far has kept in line with her aesthetic, including miniskirts and halter tops—two Grande signatures. For a recent episode guest-starring Kristin Chenoweth, Grande even wore a halter that was a major vintage score. The purple, scarf-style top was vintage Gucci and sourced from Nina Gabbana Vintage, one of Rihanna’s favorite vintage dealers. And while the top’s birth year is unknown, it’s giving us major Tom Ford-era vibes.
But it hasn’t just been one-of-a-kind archival wears for Grande. She and Cuttrell have been plucking current-season outfits for the show and giving them the Ariana twist. In an earlier episode this season, Grande wore a spring 2021 beaded black dress from Blumarine, accessorizing it with a black bandana around her neck and sky-high heels (another Grande must). For a performance with fellow coaches John Legend, Kelly Clarkson, and Blake Shelton, she wore a fall 2021 Prabal Gurung look—pink corset, flared trousers, and matching gloves. And she even gave it a western twist with a pink cowboy hat, by Gladys Tamez Millinery.
Grande has also had some custom creations made for the show. Sitting in that famous swiveling coach’s chair, she recently critiqued contestants while sporting a custom look from Malaysian designer Ivan Young—a lilac, silk satin top with fringed sleeves, complete with a matching fringed skirt. But whether it’s vintage, fresh off the catwalk, or custom-made, Grande has been turning The Voice into a fashion show. We totally called it!
