Earlier this month, we reported that Doja Cat, fresh off her performance at the Global Citizen Festival, was giving fans an intimate and exclusive concert through a partnership with Airbnb. The one-night-only show was awarded to several winners who were handpicked for the unique opportunity.
Reports stated that Doja was set to put on a listening session, where she performed carefully curated tunes. She previously expressed her excitement to Billboard about putting on the once-in-a-lifetime performance. While the event was expected to be filled with good vibes and catchy songs, one attendee allegedly had a different experience.
A Twitter user known as @grandeunext recounted their time at the concert and revealed that they were kicked out after trying to bring in multiple items, including tote bags, food, merch, and paraphernalia, that they wanted signed by Doja. One of the pieces the user wanted autographed was a screenshot that showed they were blocked on Twitter by Doja’s account and a handwritten letter.
The user clarified that their anger was directed towards Doja, not her team, who were allegedly bothered by the screenshot.
i spent HUNDREDS on bus tickets, merch, an airbnb, ubers, and more just to partake in an opportunity that would’ve been a dream experience for me. if at any time being blocked was a red flag, you shouldn’t have allowed me to spend hundreds on this trip.

btw, i read through the entire 11 pages of the airbnb icons rules and i followed every additional one that came from doja’s team. just for the icons staff to come up with new ones at the check-in area.

“I spent HUNDREDS on bus tickets, merch, an Airbnb, Uber, and more just to partake in an opportunity that would’ve been a dream experience for me,” the user wrote on the social media platform. “If at any time being blocked was a red flag, you shouldn’t have allowed me to spend hundreds on this trip.”
However, despite the user’s complaints, other attendees took to TikTok to detail their experience, completely different from @grandeunext. In fact, one TikTok user known as Nolan Lewis stated, “The staff were so nice to us, so funny to us, very caring, always checking on us to make sure we were okay. I don’t want anyone involved in the administrative process to think they were doing something terrible by having everyone’s safety in mind.”
Another user named Ginger also spoke about her time at the event and mentioned that “it was phenomenal.” She went on to say that Doja’s team and Airbnb’s partnership was an “insane” experience. She debunked the rumors that tend to follow Doja regarding her disliking her fans.
Neither Doja nor her team has addressed the incident, and it’s unclear whether the user was refunded for their time and money.
