Miley Cyrus has been visibly glowing since the release of her hit breakup anthem “Flowers“—most notably at this week’s Versace fall-winter 2023 fashion show, where she also appeared to have gotten closer to her new man.
Cyrus was first linked to musician Maxx Morando in November 2021, when the two sparked romance rumors with a joint appearance at the Gucci Love Parade fashion show. (Cyrus later also shared a photo with Morando from the event on Instagram.)
Rumors further escalated the following month, when Cyrus reportedly danced and held hands with Morando in Miami during her New Year’s Eve Party special for NBC. And by April 2022, the pair seemingly confirmed their romance during an outing in West Hollywood, where the two went all out with PDA.
Though Morando has resolved to keep aspects of his personal life largely private, he, like Cyrus, has had a well-known career in music.
In January 2022, a source said to E! News of their connection, “[Morando and Cyrus] are both artistic and creative, so they bond over being musicians.”
Ahead, everything we know so far about Cyrus’s new man.
He is a versatile musician.
While best known as a drummer for Liily (and previously for Regrettes from 2015 to 2018), Morando can also play guitar, per an Instagram Live in 2020. He has additionally collaborated with Cyrus to produce two of her songs, “Handstand” and “Violet Chemistry,” from the singer’s latest album, Endless Summer Vacation.
He’s six years younger than Miley.
The drummer, born in 1998, is six years Miley’s junior at 24 years old. (His birthday also happens to fall exactly a week ahead of the singer’s, on November 16.)
He designed an outfit for Miley.
Along with his musical endeavors, the drummer has dabbled in fashion design, with Cyrus as his muse.
Cyrus revealed in a September 2021 Morando had contributed cartoon designs on a custom vegan leather set by designer Shane Kastl that Cyrus wore for a performance that month.
“This look is a one-of-a-kind collaboration between two of my favorite emerging artists, Maxx Morando and Shane Kastl,” Cyrus said of the special look in an interview. “Their collaboration is the perfect example of sustainability becoming the next fashion phase, and it proves that anything can be reinvented, which resonates with me deeply.”
