The 2024 NFL Draft consists of several big name quarterbacks. Drake Maye of North Carolina is one of the top three quarterbacks entering this year’s draft. The Tar Heels signal-caller threw for over 3,600 yards, 24 touchdowns, and nine interceptions while rushing for 449 yards and nine scores with his legs.
While Maye is one of the top signal-callers in this draft, the consensus is that USC’s Caleb Williams will be the first quarterback off the board. Maye, however, could go second or potentially third if Jayden Daniels ends up hearing his name called before Maye does.
While NFL Draft Buzz reports that Maye had run a 4.60 for his 40-time, the North Carolina quarterback which is what we’ll have to go off since Maye didn’t run a 40 at the Combine.

We still don’t know how Richardson or Fields’ careers are going to turn out but of the other three here, only Vick had a lengthy NFL career, spending 14 seasons in the pros. McNeal played just one year in the NFL and Griffin spent seven seasons in the league with three different teams.

Quarterbacks typically aren’t the fastest guy on the field. If they were, they’d likely be converted to a different offensive position since speed isn’t necessarily the most important thing for a signal-caller. The positions above (wide receiver, cornerback, running back) are the ones where speed is important and that’s why they have the best 40-times.
