I’m A Celeb Australia: Joey Essex joins cast
The Only Way Is Essex legend Joey Essex urgently needed emergency assistance as he competed in a water trial during I’m A Celeb Australia.
The reality star, 31, is currently starring on the reality show and on Wednesday he was tasked with swimming through freezing cold water and had to reach into an ice block to win stars.
When he reached the end of the course, he had 20 seconds to swim back to the start to greet hosts Chris Brown and Julia Morris.
As he made his way back, Joey began to run out of oxygen and became disoriented in the freezing water.
Julia panicked and called for an emergency diver to intervene before Joey drowned.

The host shrieked: “Oh my God. I’m gonna panic. Can we get the diver?”
The emergency diver then helped Joey out of the water and he had a safe exit.
Essex star Joey recently revealed has set his sights on finding ‘the one’ while he’s there.
He signed up to the brand-new series a number of months ago, and ahead of his stint on the Channel 10 show, Joey admitted that he’s ready to find love again while he’s out in the wilderness.

Lifting the lid on his romantic hopes, Joey told: “If I find someone single in the camp and fall in love, I’ll be the happiest man on earth.”
The much-loved reality TV star added that he wants to meet someone who looks like Hailey Bieber or Kendall Jenner, admitting that they are both ‘his type’.
Joey made his entrance to the Byron Bay jungle on Tuesday night – and he immediately caught the attention of viewers who couldn’t quite get over his pearly-white smile and quirky personality.

The reality star famously took part in the 2013 series of the UK version of the show – hosted by Ant McPartlin and Dec Donnelly – where he finished fourth, with fans at home in the UK loving his stint on the show.
Joey famously starred on The Only Way Is Essex for two years, before making his exit from the show ahead of his I’m A Celebrity stint. He placed fourth on the jungle show.
Since then, he has appeared in his own shows such as Educating Joey Essex as well as appearing in dating reality series Celeb’s Go Dating as well as ski show The Jump and Celebrity Ex On The Beach.
