Dressing for a luxury lounge versus the traditional nightclub/bar are completely different concepts. Traditional nightclubs call for jeans, cropped tops or super-short skin tight dresses as clubbing outfits for women. But what do you wear to fancy nightclubs? Jeans are obviously out of consideration right?
I know what you’re thinking…a luxury lounge, sounds like something formal right? I had the same attitude before visiting Waterproof at The Statler Hotel. The website’s description states clothing attire: cocktail. Being fairly ignorant of cocktail fashion, my mind instantly went to the thought of long evening gowns or long formal dresses, you know the kind you see for glamorous society balls. (inserts palm to face emoji).
After my luxury nightclub experience, I’m now familiar with the attire and it’s not too formal as you think. My style guide will feature ever pretty dresses to give you an example of what to look for when deciding how to dress classy for a fancy nightclub without going over the top! If you want to make a bold statement, I suggest ditch the cute sleek LBD and try something that screams, “Hello I’m here!” Whether it’s a mustard yellow, fire engine red, shimmery metallic, structured sequins or pure white, let a vibrant hue take center stage as your dress of the night!
Wearing bold prints and colors are easy ways to skip jewelry because the prints provide that extra oomph accessories give to outfits. One of my ultimate favorite ways to style a printed dress is to add combat boots and a leather jacket. I think the juxtaposition between feminine frill and military-like elements provide the best of both worlds: edge and glamour, which makes it a perfect look for a luxury lounge without you feeling too dressy. The thrill of ordering alcoholic drinks such as a Mojito, Manhattan, Malibu Sunset or if you fancy a Carrie Bradshaw moment, you opt for a Cosmopolitan while dancing the night away in a cute sexy outfit is one of the best parts about the nightlife.
