Sinead O’Connor’s cause of death update given by coroner | Celebrity News | Showbiz & TV

Tragic Sinead O’Connor, who captured the hearts of a nation with her soulful ballads across a decades-long career, was found unresponsive at her home in London, with a cause of death yet to be announced.

According to the London Inner South Coroner’s Court, an autopsy is due to be conducted, with results taking up to “several weeks”.

A statement on the court’s website elaborates: “The death of Sinead O’Connor in Lambeth was notified to the coroner on Wednesday July 26 2023.

“No medical cause of death was given. The coroner therefore directed an autopsy to be conducted. The results of this may not available for several weeks.

“The decision whether an inquest will be needed will be decided when these results are known and submissions have been heard from the family.”

The court concludes that “if an inquest is to be opened, the date of the brief public hearing will be provided on our website”.

Earlier this month, she’d excitedly shown Twitter followers her new abode, promising she was writing some tunes and hoped to release an album next year.

The songstress appeared to be full of plans, including suggestions she would tour Australia, New Zealand, the USA and Europe in the next couple of years.

She signed off her post optimistically, declaring to fans: “#TheB**chIsBack.”

Now a nation of fans are in mourning, as they lament her sudden and unexpected death.

In previous years, Sinead had been open about her struggles with mental health and was diagnosed with bipolar disorder in 2003.

Tributes have flooded in from those who knew and loved Sinead. Loose Women star Janet Street-Porter posted a touching Twitter tribute to her and the brief time they spent living together in Los Angeles.

“Sinead was utterly unpredictable, enchanting, and special, extraordinary in concert,” she passionately declared to her followers.

She continued: “When her manager Steve (my pal) was dying with bladder cancer in 2001, Sinead and I moved into his hotel in Los Angeles for his final days. “Now Saint Sinead’s gone [too] – if only she’d been cherished xx.”

Meanwhile, the tragic loss comes just 18 months after her much-loved son Shane died, after taking his life at the age of 17.

She had previously tweeted about her beloved boy: “He was the only person who ever loved me unconditionally.”
