Legends of Hollywood and its young elite alike celebrated the 76th Cannes Film Festival on Saturday evening, at an intimate dinner and party hosted by Vanity Fair’s editor-in-chief Radhika Jones and Prada.
At the Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc, artists from the world of film, fashion, music and tech gathered for the talked-about annual event, making its high-energy post-pandemic comeback in spite of the wash-out weather.
Shielded from the rain, attendees gazed out onto the Mediterranean, the ubiquitous yachts visible in the distance. The drizzle hardly dampened their spirits. Emily in Paris star Lucien Laviscount was a high-energy presence, picking up a conversation with Harris Dickinson, star of last year’s Palme d’Or winner Triangle of Sadness. Throughout the night, Dickinson continued conversations started over dinner with Diana Silvers of Booksmart fame and Disney’s latest prince, Jonah Hauer-King of The Little Mermaid.
Some were at the festival to support their own projects; others were here before the hysteria fully kicked off: Mia Wasikowska was spotted at the event prior to the premiere of her new feature Club Zero later in the festival. Sam Levinson and the cast of his buzzy A24 x HBO series The Idol, including Hari Nef and Rachel Sennott, arrived in town early, enjoying the event before the hyped series has its splashy Out of Competition debut on Monday evening. Levinson collaborators like Jeremy O Harris, the playwright and Euphoria screenwriter, and Prada ambassador Storm Reid, caught up with their co-stars as the night went on.
Style icons – from Ashley Graham to Alexa Chung, Adriana Lima to Joan Smalls – made their mark on the evening. Naomi Campbell arrived later and was spotted conversing with film producer Mohammed Al Turki. She’s expected to celebrate her birthday while in town.
Later, Netflix’s new glitterati – Elité’s Manu Rios, who’s at the festival in support of his Pedro Almodóvar short, Strange Way of Life, and Will Gao of Heartstopper fame – took to the dance floor, as DJ Mateo spun pop songs on the decks. Enola Holmes breakout Louis Partridge stalked the room in a white Prada suit.
The night went on, and the star arrivals continued: Jeff Bezos and Jennifer Lawrence were just two of the stars to show up after midnight. And just after one in the morning, fresh from the world premiere of his critically-acclaimed historical epic Killers of the Flower Moon, Robert De Niro arrived, joined by his girlfriend, Tiffany Chen. Jones was there to greet them. As the weather continued unrelentingly, so too did the party. A bombastic comeback for the starriest night of the festival.
