Queen Camilla will not be joining members of the Royal Family today for the Festival of Remembrance nor tomorrow for the annual service at the Cenotaph in London, as Buckingham Palace announced she will be staying home to rest for a little longer due to a chest infection.
In a new statement, the Palace said: “Following doctors’ guidance to ensure a full recovery from a seasonal chest infection, and to protect others from any potential risk, Her Majesty will not attend this weekend’s Remembrance events.
“While this is a source of great disappointment to The Queen, she will mark the occasion privately at home and hopes to return to public duties early next week.”
On Friday, Buckingham Palace announced that Queen Camilla’s attendance at both events would be subjected “to medical advice nearer the time”.
It follows Tuesday’s announcement about Camilla having to pull out from two major royal events earlier in the week as she was unwell.
It was shared she would rest at her beloved Wiltshire home Raymill on doctor’s advice and apologised for the inconvenience.
The Palace said in a statement on Tuesday: “Her Majesty The Queen is currently unwell with a chest infection, for which her doctors have advised a short period of rest.”
“With great regret, Her Majesty has therefore had to withdraw from her engagements for this week, but she very much hopes to be recovered in time to attend this weekend’s Remembrance events as normal.
“She apologises to all those who may be inconvenienced or disappointed as a result.”
It is hoped the Queen will be able to attend a major event this coming week.
Camilla, known to be a book worm and the patron of several literacy charities, is scheduled to host a reception for authors who are shortlisted for the annual Booker Prize at Clarence House on Tuesday, November 12.
The King is still set to attend both Remembrance events alongside other senior Royals, including Prince William and Princess Kate.
