Tragic accident
The Marvel universe is in mourning after French actor Gaspard Ulliel — who stars as Midnight Man in Marvel’s buzzy upcoming “Moon Knight” series — died on Jan. 19 following a ski accident in the French Alps, news agency AFP reported. Variety reported that, according to AFP, Gaspard — a two-time César Award winner (France’s version of the Oscars) — was transported by helicopter to a hospital in Grenoble, France, after suffering serious brain trauma when he collided with another skier at the intersection of two slopes on Jan. 18.

Bad blood
Things have officially blown up between Britney Spears and sister Jamie Lynn Spears. The two women publicly feuded throughout the week as Jamie Lynn promoted her new memoir, “Things I Should Have Said.” On Jan. 17, Brit’s legal team fired off a letter to her sister demanding she “cease and desist from referencing Britney derogatorily during [the] promotional campaign.” Legal action was threatened. Then, in a Jan. 18 Instagram post, the pop star ripped her younger sister, claiming she lived a lavish life in her youth while Brit busted her behind and supported the family. “I’m sorry Jamie Lynn, I wasn’t strong enough to do what should have been done … slapped you and Mamma right across your f****** faces !!!!!” Brit wrote, later calling her sister a “selfish little brat.” Then Jamie’s team fired back. “In your Letter you state that Britney is going to take the ‘high road,'” Jamie Lynn’s lawyer wrote. “As you know from previous social media posts, Jamie Lynn has had her children violently threatened, and we have no doubt that these new intimidating and threatening social media posts will lead to similar threats of violence. To be clear, social media posts that include cyber bull[y]ing which cause death threats to Jamie Lynn and her family, is neither the ‘high road,’ nor anything that will be tolerated.”

Single again
One and done. After just a year of marriage to Dan Hayhurst, Pamela Anderson is getting divorced… again… for the fifth time. Rolling Stone reported on Jan. 20 that the former “Baywatch” babe and Dan, who tied the knot on Christmas Eve 2020 at her Vancouver property, are going their separate ways. “Pamela loves as authentically as she lives,” said the source, who dubbed the brief union a “pandemic whirlwind” that petered out. Pam is reportedly filing for divorce in her native Canada, where she and Dan had been living.

Bad memories
Jessica Alba was “horrible” to work with 20 years ago, a former co-star said this week. Jensen Ackles and the Honest Company founder co-starred on James Cameron’s early aughts sci-fi show “Dark Angel.” To say the two didn’t see eye-to-eye during their time on set together would be putting it lightly. “She was horrible,” Jensen said on Michael Rosenbaum’s “Inside of You” podcast, quickly noting that he was not joking. “I’ve told this to her face.” The “Supernatural” actor acknowledged that the actress was “under an immense amount of pressure on that show.” He said, “I was the new kid on the block and I got picked on by the lead… Like the worst kind of bickering a brother and sister could do. She had it out for me.” Jensen soon began calling Jessica out for her alleged shenanigans and earned her respect. He now says he “loves” her. “We bickered, we bickered like brother and sister,” he said.
Under pressure?
Not long after Simon Cowell popped the question to longtime partner Lauren Silverman came a report claiming the two are ridiculously in love. However, a few days after that, another report alleged that the “America’s Got Talent” judge was pressured to propose. “Around Christmas I know that she was talking about [getting engaged], and he was refusing,” a source told Page Six. “They had reached a difficult point in the relationship — you might call it a crisis. There was misery. Perhaps she had made it clear that she was not going to stick around unless they got married.” The insider went on to allege that Simon actually “got her an engagement ring” once before — around the time they welcomed their son, Eric, in 2014. “But he then put it away in a safe and made it clear that he didn’t want to get married after all,” claimed the source. “She’s a nice middle-class girl and she always wanted to get married. Her mum said that she trusted Simon to ‘do the right thing’ before Eric was born. Well, she’s been waiting a long time — and so has Lauren.”
Vegas will wait
Just 24 hours before she was set to take the stage, Adele put her Las Vegas residency show on hold. In a tearful Instagram announcement she posted on Jan. 20, the singer said the “show ain’t ready.” “Weekends With Adele” was set to kick off on Jan. 21 at Caesars Palace. “We’ve tried everything we absolutely can to put it together in time and for it to be good enough for you but we’ve been absolutely destroyed by delivery delays and COVID,” she said while fighting back tears. “It’s been impossible to finish the show. I’m gutted.” The “Easy On Me” singer promised to get the show right and reschedule all the dates.
Cancer death
Just three days after his rep confirmed to TMZ that Emmy-winning comedian Louie Anderson was in a Las Vegas hospital fighting diffuse large B-cell lymphoma — an aggressive cancer that is the most common type of non-Hodgkin lymphoma — the comedian passed away on Jan. 21 from complications of the disease. The former “Family Feud” host was 68.
Lipo reveal
Amy Schumer is closer to being the woman she wants to be. On Jan. 18, the comedian took to Instagram to share two photos of herself in a black swimsuit on a beach. In the caption, Amy— who in 2021 had her uterus and appendix removed as a result of her painful battle with endometriosis — revealed that she also tried liposuction. “I feel good. Finally. It’s been a journey thanks for helping me get my strength back @seckinmd (endo) @jordanternermd (lipo) never thought i would do anything but talk to me after your uterus doesn’t contract for 2.5 years and you turn 40. @paulvincent22 vickie Lee (acupuncture) my girl Nicole from the tox my friends and fam. Let’s go!” Amy wrote, adding in a message on her Instagram Story that she weighed 170 pounds.
COVID death
Another star has died from COVID-19. Musician and actor Meat Loaf passed away on Jan. 20, 2022, at 74, his manager confirmed, though he didn’t share a cause of death. TMZ reported that the Grammy winner who gave the world hits like “Bat Out of Hell,” “Paradise by the Dashboard Light” and “I’d Do Anything for Love (But I Won’t Do That)” died from complications of COVID-19. It’s unknown if the performer (real name: Marvin Lee Aday) — who also appeared in films like “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” and “Fight Club” — was vaccinated, though he’d been publicly critical of masks and what he called being “controlled,” he told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette in 2021.
