But today, something shifted: Dua Lipa swapped her signature red hair for a pretty black licorice shade, Kim Kardashian got a ’90s bob, and Kylie Jenner is hopping on the black cat energy with the perfect seasonal hair refresh.
On October 18, Jenner posted a photo dump to Instagram, ringing in the spooky season with photos of pumpkins, her orange car, and surprising fans with jet-black hair. In the slideshow, Jenner compared her new shiny dark strands to the character Violet from The Incredibles.

In the selfie, Jenner is fresh-faced with no makeup and her new cut and color are front and center. It looks like the beauty founder opted for a shorter length that stopped just before her chest with lots of layers to bring the color and cut to life. It almost looks as though she cut voluminous curtain bangs that slightly covered her face in the photo. The black color was extra dark and was a true jet black with no highlights. Aside from a dalliance with teal hair, she’s mostly been sticking to a dark dimensional brown shade as of late, so the jet black was a subtle but impactful change.
As we wait for the Kardashians’ iconic Halloween costumes to be revealed, Jenner’s jet-black hair will just have to do. Some fans even speculated the look was a hint of her upcoming look. “Okay walk with me… the Kardashians dress up as the Incredibles for Halloween,” said a commenter. I guess we’ll have to see.
