No one does relatable fall fashion like Katie Holmes.
On Thursday, the actor was photographed walking around New York City in a cozy autumnal look composed of closet staples. Her ensemble included an ivory button-down shirt, as well as a pair of loose light-wash jeans. It was truly her slouchy gray cardigan, however, that brought the fall feels.
Effortlessly layered over the rest of her outfit, the oversized sweater looked like one you might borrow from your grandfather’s closet. The thick knit seemed to serve one purpose with its baggy fit—that being comfort—and Holmes accordingly snuggled up in the sweater. She then slung a brown raffia hobo bag over her shoulder, and added a few gold rings to her look to keep it from feeling too frumpy.
And while an autumn chill kept the Rare Objects director bundled up, she opted to wear her favorite shoes of the summer: a pair of black Mary Jane flats. The pointed, patent leather footwear added a put-together feel to her ensemble, and she made sure to slip on some black socks underneath to avoid cold feet. Elsewhere, she accessorized with a delicate crystal heart pendant and a pair of brown square sunglasses. She finished off her look with sharp black eyeliner and a mauve lipstick, pushing her hair back into a tousled updo.
Earlier this week, Holmes returned to the Broadway stage for the revival of Our Town. The Pulitzer Prize–winning play tells the tale of a small town, and a stage manager “narrates the daily lives of its locals, depicts a childhood friendship turn into marriage, and sets the stage for magnificent truths of what it means to be alive.”
