Before Pedro Pascal made the world fall in love with him with The Last of Us, the actor had his biggest role in the disastrous DC film Wonder Woman 1984. The sequel to 2017’s Wonder Woman saw Gal Gadot reprise her titular role but the film failed to break even as it was released amidst the pandemic and received negative responses.
While Gadot had previously been appreciated for her performance as the superhero, one scene from the film seems to be making rounds on the Internet for all the wrong reasons. Gadot’s performance in the scene has become the subject of criticism and fans have been appreciating Pascal for not breaking character.
Gal Gadot’s Terrible Performance With Pedro Pascal In Wonder Woman 1984 Irks Fans
Gal Gadot has become a global star due to her appearances in films such as the Fast & Furious franchise and the DCEU. Debuting in the latter franchise as Wonder Woman in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, Gadot quickly received her solo film in 2017 and the film was a commercial success.
The success of the first film led to a sequel being developed immediately, however, Wonder Woman 1984 was not as well-received as its predecessor. It was released simultaneously in theaters and on streaming as part of Warner Bros.’ strategy for the pandemic which adversely affected the film’s box office performance.
The film’s box office was not the only bad performer apparently, as Gadot’s acting in one scene where she interrogates Pedro Pascal’s Max Lord has been doing the rounds on the Internet. Many have criticized the actress’ terrible performance in the scene,
Despite being considered the best actor to portray the Amazonian warrior, fans seemed to reconsidering their loyalty to the actress as the scene recently resurfaced.
Gal Gadot Admitted She Wasn’t An Actress When She Offered A Role In James Bond
Apart from being the Thymescarian superhero Wonder Woman, Gal Gadot’s other roles have not received as much love as the DC films. While she had a starring role in the Fast & Furious franchise, playing Giselle, she has not seen the same amount of success in films like Red Notice and Heart of Stone.
Before her breakout role in Vin Diesel’s racing franchise, Gadot was reportedly up to audition for a role in a James Bond film when she had just gotten out of her military training in Israel. She mentioned in an interview with InStyle,
After my service in the military and modeling, I started university and studied law. There was a casting director there looking for the new Bond girl, and she had seen my card at my modeling agency. I was like, ‘Listen, I’m not an actress. I’m here because my agent told me you really wanted to see me, but I don’t want to waste your time.’
The Death on the Nile star mentioned that though she did not get the role, she began to take acting lessons and take the craft seriously. Fans might feel she might need more lessons after seeing the Wonder Woman scene, however.
Wonder Woman 1984 is available to stream on Max.
