Christine McGuinness shares health update on husband Paddy after operation

Christine McGuiness has given an update on her husband Paddy after the Top Gear star went under the knife earlier this week.

Paddy, 48, had reportedly been waiting six months for the surgery that he needed for a previous injury.

Discussing how he’s feeling a few days on from the procedure, Christine, 33, said he’s doing well while joking that the Bolton-born TV personality was “milking it”.

She told OK! Online: “He’s absolutely fine. He’s milking it, obviously, he’s a man, and he’s got to try and rest as much as possible.

“It’s an old injury and he’s just been waiting for some time off work to get it sorted, and he has done now, so he’s absolutely fine.”

Paddy himself gave an update on Thursday 3 February, where he expressed his relief at finally being able to have it done.

“Finally got my knee op done! Been managing with it for 6 months, such a relief to finally get it sorted,” he wrote alongside a snap of two before and after photos of his knee.

“Few days rest now, then we get this puppy moving!!! I had a torn lateral meniscus, along with a blue surgical sock. Both were removed successfully. #tuesday #knee #meniscustear #physio #bluesock #sexy”.

Christine then referred to herself as “Nurse McGuiness” in the comments section of his post, while Paddy’s celebrity pals wished him a speedy recovery.

While chatting to OK! Online at the 10th National Diversity Awards on Friday 4 February, Christine also discussed her and her children’s autism, and how she believes there needs to be more awareness and understanding of the disability in schools.

“Diversity in general should be a lesson [in schools],” Christine told us. “I do think our younger generation are more open minded. They’re seeing a lot and they talk a lot more, but I still think you can never talk about things enough and that you should just be open.”

The mum-of-three went on to say that her kids all of whom have autism are “very fortunate” that their school is “inclusive and understanding”.

While her kids, Penelope, Leo and Felicity, have been diagnosed with autism, Christine and Paddy are yet to broach that conversation with their children; something which Christine has admitted there “isn’t a right time” to do.

She previously told us: “We talk about it quite openly in front of them but they haven’t asked about it yet. I’m not sure when the right time is, or if there is a right time. At the minute the twins are eight and the youngest is five so they’re all very young.

“They’re happy go lucky little children so I don’t want to give them any extra worries just yet, and at the minute they’re in a great school which is inclusive and they don’t feel any different to anyone else so they’re happy.”
