Celebrities Share Emotional Tributes to Liam Payne



Celebrities are honoring the memory of Liam Payne, who died yesterday at 31 years old.

Payne, a former member of boy band One Direction, passed after falling from his third floor room at the CasaSur hotel in Palermo, Argentina, state police confirmed to several outlets, including ABC News.

Payne’s family issued a statement after the singer’s tragic death. “We are heartbroken,” the family shared to the BBC. “Liam will forever live in our hearts and we’ll remember him for his kind, funny, and brave soul.” The family added, “We are supporting each other the best we can as a family and ask for privacy and space at this awful time.”

Harry Styles’s mother, Anne Twist, was one of the first to react to news of Payne’s death. She shared an image of a heartbreak emoji on Instagram, captioning the picture with “Just a boy … 💔.”

Charli Puth

Puth, co-writer of Liam’s 2017 single “Bedroom Floor,” shared a statement on his Instagram Story.

“I am in shock right now. Liam was always so kind to me. He was one of the first major artists I got to work with. I cannot believe he is gone…” the singer wrote, also sharing a throwback photo with Payne.

Rita Ora

Rita Ora, who collaborated with Payne on the 2018 single “For You (Fifty Shades Freed),” shared a series of pictures of her and Payne to Instagram.

“I’m devastated 💔 He had the kindest soul, I will never forget. I loved working with him so much—he was just such a joy to be around on and off stage,” wrote Ora. “This tragic news breaks my heart. Sending all my love and prayers to his family and loved ones. Our song For You takes on a whole new meaning for me now. R.I.P. 🕊️”

British fashion editor Edward Enninful took to Instagram to pay tribute to Payne, sharing a handful of photos of them together.

“It is too painful to even write this,” he captioned the roundup. “Liam, you were a true friend. One of the most loyal, sensitive, dynamic, funny and unique people I ever had the good fortune to meet. True friendship is a rare gift and we hope and assume that gift will last a lifetime. Today my heart breaks for how short life can be. My thoughts are with all of Liam’s family and loved ones.”

Quavo, who collaborated with Payne on their song “Strip That Down,” mourned the loss of the singer on his Instagram story.

The official X Factor account, meanwhile, described the star as “immensely talented” on X (formerly Twitter).
