Ariana Grande’s themed dressing for the Wicked press tour was on pause at the Met Gala tonight.
Though the first Wicked movie doesn’t premiere until this November, at their major public appearances thus far this year, Grande and her co-star Cynthia Erivo have stuck to their characters’ designated color palettes: pink for Grande, who is playing Glinda, and green for Erivo, who is playing Elphaba. Tonight, they left the color palette behind—Erivo wore a tuxedo-inspired dress covered in pink floral petals, while Grande wore a mother of pearl dress designed by Jonathan Anderson at Loewe.
In fact, for Grande’s appearance in support of Wicked, at CinemaCon, she wore a floral pink minidress from Oscar de la Renta’s spring 2024 collection, an outfit that would not be out of place at tonight’s “Garden of Time”-themed Met Gala:
Tonight marks Grande’s return to the Met Gala after a six year hiatus; the last time she attended was in 2018, when she wore a show-stopping Vera Wang ballgown.
