This has been a big weekend for celebrity sightings at the Wimbledon finals, and there were even more this Sunday afternoon at the All England Club in London. Stars were sitting shoulder to shoulder, including Wicked star Ariana Grande and Spider-Man Andrew Garfield.
The men’s singles final featured Novak Djokovic versus Carlos Alcaraz, and both Grande and Garfield were clearly enthralled by the action below even as they seemed to converse with one another in between volleys.
Grande is infrequently seen out in public outside of what she chooses to post on Instagram. For the event, she wore a white baseball cap, a three quarter zippered grey cardigan, and a pair of hoop earrings hung with pearls. She had on a pointed French manicure and her hair was Glinda blonde for her role in the upcoming film adaptation of the popular Broadway musical. Garfield was wearing a tan blazer over a pale blue button down. Seen just in front of them in the photos is Thor actor Tom Hiddleston, who was seated with his fiancé Zawe Ashton.
The set for Wicked Part 1 has been shut down since the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists called for a strike, joining the Writer’s Guild of America who have been on strike for a number of weeks. Broadway World reported that the production was only a few days away from completion. Both Grande and the film’s star Cynthia Erivo have expressed their support for the strike as the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers holds off on negotiating a fair contract with SAG-AFTRA and WGA.
“The AMPTP’s responses to the union’s most important proposals have been insulting and disrespectful of our massive contributions to this industry,” said SAG-AFTRA President Fran Drescher in a statement. The companies have refused to meaningfully engage on some topics and on others completely stonewalled us. Until they do negotiate in good faith, we cannot begin to reach a deal.”
