Ashley Graham wasn’t quick to commit to the 2024 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show.
After walking the iconic runway with Gigi Hadid, Bella Hadid, Adriana Lima, and Behati Prinsloo on Tuesday, the 36-year-old model took to Instagram to reveal why she had second thoughts before agreeing to take part in the event — the brand’s first since 2018.
‘When @victoriassecret first reached out, I’ll be honest—I hesitated. For years, the brand didn’t feel like it was made for someone like me,’ she wrote on Wednesday.
‘Their vision of beauty seemed narrow, as if everything they created was for just one type of body—and it wasn’t mine,’ she shared alongside a collection of backstage photos.
‘But after sitting down with the leadership at VS, I saw real change,’ she continued.
The siren also said that she flipped at first when they handed her ‘tiny, tiny, little underwear’ to model.

‘They were excited to have me join the show and assured me this wasn’t just a one-time thing. The curve models weren’t just a symbol—VS genuinely want[ed] to be part of the body diversity revolution.’
Ashley shared that Victoria’s Secret assured her of their commitment to ’embracing body diversity in a lasting, meaningful way,’ leading her to say yes ‘to represent ALL OF US, to show up for every body that’s ever felt unseen.’
However, Ashley had to modify her ensembles before strutting down the runway, as she wasn’t too keen on the initial suggestions.
‘The first thing they gave me was this tiny, tiny little underwear, and I said, “Hello, I just had three children,”‘ Graham told People.
‘Even though it was like two years ago, but I was like, “Is there any more we can put on?” So then I got a bodysuit and I feel really sexy in it, and then when the wings came out, that’s when I was like, “Oh yeah, I feel like an Angel. This is hot.”‘
Ashley made a striking impression in a slinky black lace bodysuit paired with a sheer robe and oversized gold flower-embellished wings.
The look was completed with custom black strappy heels designed by Rene Caovilla.
Later that evening, Ashley showcased her stunning curves in a seductive satin dress as she made her entrance at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show 2024 after-party.
Just moments after the show concluded, the models gathered at the Crane Club to celebrate, and Ashley ensured she turned heads for the occasion.
The mother of two slipped into a daring black midi dress featuring a lace-up side, a plunging neckline, and ruched detailing. She drew attention with a bold display, revealing an eye-catching leopard print bra beneath the figure-hugging silhouette.

All smiles, she arrived at the party hand in hand with her supportive husband of 14 years, Justin Ervin.
Ashley and the 35-year-old cinematographer, who met at church in 2009 and share three children, radiated happiness as they celebrated her triumphant runway appearance.
