Speaking to guest hosts Rav Wilding and Sara Davies, he said: “Like so many people all over the country at the moment for Christmas my plans changed overnight.
“As you say, I was supposed to get an ankle operation today, hence why I’m not with you on Morning Live, and then I had a positive PCR over the weekend which meant the operation was cancelled.
“Then I had to make that really horrible phone call to mum and dad who came to me for Christmas day and I was just saying to them it’s not a cancellation, we’re going to postpone it but we will get it done at some point, it’s just the way it is.”
In 2020 Gethin began presenting the BBC One show, Morning Live, with the show being so popular its trial run never finished.
